Primary Goal Replace the aging platform and support ongoing changes

Client

Twisted Barn is a rural destination shop offering yarn, fibre, accessories, gifts, classes, seasonal events, and specialist Gansey yarn near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

What was delivered

A WordPress rebuild with a clear seven-page public structure, contact and subscription pathways, managed hosting, and ongoing website support.

Primary website goal

Give visitors a straightforward way to understand the shop, find the rural location, check current classes and events, and contact Twisted Barn.

Replacing an aging website platform

Twisted Barn's previous website was built on older proprietary technology. When attempts to preserve it as a static copy were not successful, the project required a proper rebuild rather than a simple transfer.

The new WordPress website needed to retain the recognizable character of the business while making the site easier to maintain and support. Because Twisted Barn is a rural destination, directions, opening hours, phone, email, and visit information also needed to remain easy to find throughout the site.

The project established a supported WordPress foundation with managed hosting and an ongoing relationship for website changes. As Shirley later described it, help is available by email or phone when the site needs an update.

Scope of Work

  • WordPress website rebuild from an aging proprietary platform
  • Divi child theme implementation
  • Content migration and page structure
  • Business, directions, hours, and contact presentation
  • Class, event, gallery, and specialist product content
  • Contact and email subscription forms
  • Managed website hosting
  • Ongoing WordPress maintenance and content support

Website Overview

The website uses a shallow navigation structure that keeps every major page within one click. Visitors can learn about the shop and founder, review current classes and seasonal events, explore Gansey yarn information, view the gallery, and find contact and location details without navigating through multiple layers.

Directions, hours, phone, and email are emphasized repeatedly because visiting the physical shop is the site's primary conversion path. Contact and email subscription forms support general enquiries as well as interest in classes, sales, and events.

The design maintains the rural character of Twisted Barn through its barn imagery, warm language, and destination-focused presentation. The WordPress foundation supports seasonal content changes while managed hosting and ongoing maintenance provide a clear support path after launch.

Seasonal Content With Direct Support

Classes and events change with the season, so the website needs to stay useful after the initial rebuild. The current site provides dedicated areas for class announcements, events, and email interest signups rather than trying to force the business into an online-store model.

The ongoing support relationship is equally important. Shirley can request website changes by email or phone, allowing the public site to be updated without requiring her to manage the technical side of WordPress.

Site strengths

These strengths highlight how the final website is structured to support clarity, usability, and long-term business goals.

Rural destination information

Directions, hours, phone, email, and visit information remain prominent for customers travelling to a location outside the town centre.

Simple visitor pathways

A shallow menu keeps the shop, classes, events, Gansey information, gallery, and contact page easy to reach.

Seasonal updates

Dedicated class and event pages provide a practical place for current programmes, sales, and demonstrations.

Specialist product education

Gansey yarn and sweater information receives its own page instead of being buried within a general product list.

Direct contact options

Phone, email, enquiry forms, subscription forms, and location information support calls, messages, and in-person visits.

Ongoing website support

Managed hosting and WordPress maintenance give the client a direct route for help when content or site changes are needed.

Client Feedback

I was in need of updating my website. One call and they took it over. I had a great website with help for changes only an email or call away. Great people and service. 10 out of 10.
